The flattened-cone shaped clusters of this variety tend to be medium to large in size. They consist of oblong berries of medium size, forming a compact, winged mass.

Wine-making potential

This grape lends plum and gooseberry flavours to the wines in which it is used.

Use

The Terret Noir grape is used in the composition of Châteauneuf du Pape and Côtes du Rhône Villages wines. It features as a secondary variety in Côtes du Rhône wines from both the northern and southern areas of the valley.
